18 years- holy crap!

18 years- holy crap!

Today marks 18 years of marriage for my husband and me.

Yeesh. It feels both shorter and longer at the same time.

In those years, we’ve:
– Started two companies
– Majorly renovated three houses
– Shared our home with five dogs
– Loved each other through the good times and the tough ones

I’ve always believed a good partner amplifies the good and helps shoulder the bad—and I really got lucky.

Wandering Roots wouldn’t exist without him.

He’s been my quiet supporter—believing in me when I didn’t, helping me scout retreat locations, being my toughest (and most honest) non-client.

When we got married, we were young and broke.

Most of our energy went to work, student loans, and car payments. But on our third anniversary, I decided we needed to live a little.

So I planned a trip to Colorado.

We visited Rocky Mountain National Park, Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, the Royal Gorge—and stayed in cheap hotels, flew a budget airline, and rented a tiny car.

It wasn’t luxurious, but it was pure magic.

We made a pact that year to take a trip together every anniversary, and we’ve kept it for 15 years.

Some trips have been fancier than others (and, I admit, I’m a Delta snob now 😉), but the heart of it hasn’t changed: stepping out of our daily responsibilities to simply enjoy each other is always worth it.

So friend, if you’re feeling that pull to travel—or even just to shake things up—book it.

Figure out the details later. I pinky promise you won’t regret it.

And if the thought of planning feels overwhelming, join us on a retreat.

No decision fatigue, no stress—just space to breathe, explore, and come home with stories you’ll be telling for years.
