National Park Geek Series - Acadia edition

National Park Geek Series - Acadia Edition

When we first got married, 10 long or short years ago (depends on the day), we casually threw around ideas of places we wanted to visit someday.  One of the first places Ryan said was Maine. It wasn't really on my list (except for an abundance of fresh lobster, duh!) but the more I learned about Acadia National Park, the stronger the appeal to make a trip there became.  Whenever we travel we normally fly into one location, take a giant road trip, and fly out of a different location. This trip was no different, we flew into Boston and spent a few days there (we both loved Boston and will definitely go back.) We then made our way to Maine and covered the entire coast.  It was breathtaking!

We got up ridiculously early to be the first people in the continuous US to see the sunrise at Quoddy Head Lighthouse.  I have a thing for lighthouses, they're just so damn pretty.  We explored all of Desert Island and did numerous hikes, including Gorham Mountain, the Great Head Trails, and Jordan's Pond Trail.

We drove the entire park loop and stopped at all of the scenic points.  My favorites were Cadillac Mountain and Little Hunters Beach.

We stayed at the most charming B&B right in downtown Bar Harbor, and we loved exploring the shops and indulging in all of the restaurants.  I hope to go back someday soon!

Have you ever been to Acadia or have plans to visit? I highly recommend it and I can help you with your travel plans.
