Change is the only constant

Change is the only constant

I’ve written and re-written this blog too many times.

And then I finally heard a little voice in my head that said “just tell them what you know.”

I started Wandering Roots in 2018 - legally anyways, but I actually knew I wanted to make a change several years before that.

Until I got clarity on wanting to host retreats, I lived in this space of feeling a little bit stuck while also simultaneously feeling a pull towards something new.

I’m having similar feels now.

So, here’s what I know…
I know that 2026 will be the last year that I host an adventure - style retreat. I’m slowing down and Abs and E are slowing down, too.

Maybe I’ve killed them one too many times on scouting trips.
Maybe it’s the fact that now we’re all in our 40’s.
Maybe we’re all more confident in who we are and are no longer terrified to sit alone with our thoughts.

Whatever the reason, we’re craving slower travel.
Space for the unexpected to unfold and delight us.
Slow mornings and stimulating conversations.
More room to just be.

The 3 of us are also exploring new opportunities - Abbey just left for a 6 month gig in Antarctica and Elise has been working with The Human Solution since the beginning of this year.

I also know that we’re not done hosting yet.

But just as we shift and change, our offerings must too.
Our retreats will offer more workshops and personal and professional development and less excursions.
We’re also going to support Elise in offering portrait field trips so that we can really lean into self-love without any other distractions.

I’ve got some other ideas floating around that I plan to pursue and flesh out this winter, and I’ll be sure to let you know what they are when I do ;)

I believe to my core that I’m the person that will make a huge life change every 7 years.
That also makes me wonder in what capacity I’m broken ;)
But I think it’s pretty dumb to assume that if we, as humans, grow and shift and change - then why wouldn’t our purpose grow and shift and change?

So friend, thank you for being here for what currently feels like “the messy middle”.

So much gratitude for being on this wild ride with you.

And, if you’re going through something similar - know that I’m rooting for you always!
