Monument Valley - A Travel Guide

Monument Valley - A Travel Guide

My husband and I recently took off for a ten day adventure to explore Utah and Arizona. We flew into Vegas for convenience and affordability before renting a car and heading east. We had made our way through Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend. Our fifth stop on this epic road trip was Monument Valley. This monument is a pretty iconic road trip spot and it’s two hours from Page, Arizona where we were staying for three nights.

Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau and is a cluster of large sandstone buttes with the largest reaching 1,000 ft above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona–Utah border about two hours from the Four Corners area. We decided to skip the Four Corners since we didn’t want to be in the car that for that long.

My husband and I decided we were up for a mini road trip from Page and headed out in the afternoon. We opted out of going to the official park because we thought we would get a better shot from US Route 163.

There are several scenic turnouts for you to pull over and take photos and several people were running out into the middle of the road when the coast was clear to get the perfect shot.

There was only one town between Page and the monument so I would recommend filling your gas tank, using the restroom, and bringing some snacks!

I would highly recommend travelling to see this monument, it is very impressive and the landscape along the way was beautiful too. If you need help planning your trip, contact me here:
